This will help us sequence the basic flow of events. Please take some time and care in completing them. Also make sure your wedding coordinator (if you're using one) has a copy. We've also compiled a list of possible first dance suggestions you might consider as well. This list has some great tunes from all musical genres. Some Thoughts About Music For Your Wedding Reception by Louie Nicolaides THE EXCLUSIVES After performing at hundreds of wedding ceremonies and receptions for over 30 years, the one constant is that there is no constant. True, most receptions contain the same familiar events such as the first dance, garter and bouquet toss, toasts, grand entrance, and more, yet the result is that given these, every reception is and should be unique and wonderful in their differences. When planning your reception music, work with the band to create a special soundtrack to the days celebration. Whether it's picking a special first dance song, or creating a special musical moment, we'll blend songs and artists you like with the tunes we know will please as many people as possible. The Exclusives try and authentically cover songs from all styles. This is necessary to make the celebration fun for everyone--of all ages. It takes talent, and commitment to perform different styles well--and not every band can pull it off well. The musicians have to be first rate, and they have to put passion and purpose into the delivery of each song. Wedding reception music is open to the atmosphere you want to create. The cocktail hour, when the guests arrive, may have easy-listening jazz, standards, maybe some light R&B or Motown, and pop ballads. Each event during the reception – cake cutting, garter toss bouquet toss – might have a special song to be played. The first dance is reserved for the bride and groom, and this music is "their" song There are also dances for the bride and her father, the groom and his mother, both sets of parents (with the bride and groom dancing with their new in-laws before reuniting) and even step-parents, and the wedding party song.
